Too hot for coffee? You need a cold brew Toddy! Brewing cold brew is as easy as it gets, and very forgiving. All you need is some ground coffee, cold water, something (like this) to brew it in and time/patience. Once brewed it can be kept ready in the fridge to serve as required.
The Heat wave may be over by the time this goes live, we cannot be held responsible should the weather take a turn for the worse!
The Brewer comes with two different filters:
2 x reusable felt filter disc, which can be cleaned and reused up to 10 times.
3 x Paper Bag Filter, to be used in addition to the Filter disc for a cleaner cup, or to brew finer ground coffee or tea.
The filter disc can be rinsed and stored in an air tight bag in the freezer for up to 3 months. You can buy replacement filters Here.
Our standard recipe for cold brew is 80g of coarsely ground coffee to 1L cold water.
If you are going to dilute it with milk (dairy or non dairy) you can brew it a little stronger. We have been experimenting with ratios for a customer serving cold brew ‘espresso’ based drinks, for that we have brewed a ratio of 100g coffee to 250ml water.
Have you tried Espresso and Tonic? Using the recipes above you can dilute your cold brew with tonic and serve over Ice. Surprisingly refreshing and moreish. If you’re not a fan of tonic try soda water with lime.
