Sometimes we have to top up between deliveries with coffee from our regular producers. Los Amigos Del Oso (AKA Friends of the Bear!) is a coffee that we have bought over the years, and it is always surprisingly delicious and easy to drink. I would happily take this coffee home and/or even on my travels. Coffees like Del Oso bring a smile to my face with that soft, easy-drinking acidity. This is great coffee that happens to be organic.
Origin: Peru
This coffee is a blend from over 40+ smallholders.
Coffee is wet processed on their own farm, before being delivered as pergamino to Frontera’s own dry mill.
In the dry mill the coffee is cupped, graded and sorted before blending and export.
Based on 60-65g per litre
| Aromatics: Chocolate Limes| Body: CLight | Acidity: Soft, Sweet citrus |
From the get-go, Del Oso is light, delicate and clean. When hot, you are welcomed with a chocolatey opening that softens and has the promise of sweet citrus. The chocolate element soon fades, and there is sweet citrus with a soft acidity. Slowly, as the coffee opens up, the citrus becomes 3D in terms of the beginning, middle and end elements of the cup. Sweet like lemon curd and comparable to a great washed Ethiopian, without the florals.
I have just really enjoyed this as a batch brew. Simple, tasty and a coffee I would refill my cup with, without hesitation.
