Burundi Rugembe Hill comes via our friends at Omwani, who work in partnership with the Migoti coffee company. Buying direct from smallholder farmers in the mountainous villages overlooking Lake Tanganyika. This includes Rugembe Hill, Murambi, Masenga, and Migoti villages. Both parties have long-term goals in helping producers with future crops and infrastructure. This includes projects like hydroelectricity and the development of alternative cash crops, as opposed to the kind of project that builds roads for the purpose of extracting minerals.
In filter, we are brewing this at 60-65g per litre.
With the current heatwave (at time of writing), the morning roastery filter brew has, by popular demand, been Iced. 115g brewed with 1L hot water & diluted over 900g of Ice.
|Aromatics: Bright and juicy⚡⚡| Body: Light | Acidity Builds to ‘bold’ |
On opening, a caramel sweetness embraces you with just a hint of citrus. The subtle citrus is just enough to break up the almost treacle like sticky sweetness.
As it cools the citrus acidity builds which gives the coffee a great balance in the mouth.
