This year we have some pretty exciting options in gift bags and if you are interested in what we have and why; this is the space.
The Filter Bag,
: is specialty grade and has different processes in and is F A B. The really cool thing about this bag is that if you want to give coffee to the geek who has all of the kit, this is also very brewable as espresso too. This can literally be brewed in everything, in and out of milk. Included in your bags are:
Good old Winter Hoard. This is a unique, seasonal coffee that many of us look forward to. We save a number of coffees, that deliver ripeness, sweetness, and soft acidity. The only guarantee that we give is that it will be different from the previous year….and taste good of course!
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Alemayhu Daniel, This guy is amazing and is driven to create a legacy, as his father did before him. Award-winning farm and a superb example of where it is from. One of the most complex natural coffees of the year.
Our last coffee from Alejo Castro of 2020. Costa Rica Volcan Azul Villa Sachi, natural Process. I am a big fan of Alejo’s coffees as his quality of processing and variety makes it easy to keep buying from him, year after year. Think Minced Pies when extracting this…
Last and very much NOT least, This is up there with some of the best coffee of the year from 3 Bothers. This is a rosado bourbon, from Finca Guacanas . It is a carbonic macerated natural processed coffee from Colombia. This is outrageous and amazingly complex. We have been humbled by the popularity of El Eden, also a CMN.
The Espresso Bag.
It occurred to me when I tried to plan for these bags, that literally thousands of people have invested in new espresso machines for home. This is not a plug, as our machine stock will probably arrive in the middle of the January sales when the end of the High Street is being liquidated. I wish that was a joke. With this in mind, I wanted to offer some of our favourites that are affordable and approachable.
Our House Espresso: Formula 6. Formula 6 or even “Turbo 6” as our friend Tim calls it, is all about what is in season. Currently, we are roasting washed coffees from Guatemala, pulped and naturals from Brazil, and 20% of amazing natural from Worka.
Our fastest growng coffee over the last few years is Simply Brazil. This blend has allowed us to pay our producers more in bad harvests and buy T H E B E S T coffees from Brazil, directly.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Good old Winter Hoard. This is a unique, seasonal coffee that many of us look forward to. We save a number of coffees, that deliver ripeness, sweetness, and soft acidity. The only guarantee that we give is that it will be different from the previous year….and taste good of course!
and a stalwart. A Single estate, red bourbon from Eppe at Finca Malacara A. 2020 has been an epic year for them and their coffee and we just love the connections that bring us together.
The Mixed Gift Bag
2 Seasonal coffees, a bag of BC’s hot chocolate, and 2 Teas from The Nilgiri Tea Company
Good old Winter Hoard. This is a unique, seasonal coffee that many of us look forward to. We save a number of coffees, that deliver ripeness, sweetness, and soft acidity. The only guarantee that we give is that it will be different from the previous year….and taste good of course!
Our last coffee from Alejo Castro of 2020. Costa Rica Volcan Azul Villa Sachi, natural Process. I am a big fan of Alejo’s coffees as his quality of processing and variety makes it easy to keep buying from him, year after year. Think Minced Pies when extracting this…
The Ultimate Hot ChocolateChocolate pieces from our old friend Barry Colenso. 65% cocoa solids, Colombian. You probably can’t use too much and then you may well be back for more!
A 50g bag of Nilgiri Pearl. This is a subtle, sweet tea, that should wean you off milk. what is milk for in tea anyway? You will see, we hope.
50g Bag of Nilgiri Dew Drop, green tea, also a loose-leaf. These teas can be brewed and brewed again or re-steeped. Super clean and delicious. I speak as a complete convert and daily drinker, usually multiple times.
The Tea Gift Bag.
This bag is pretty incredible if I don’t say so myself. 7 different teas from The Nilgiris, that have recently been processed. These teas include Black, Green, White, Nilgiri Bamboo, and Nilgiri Kukicha. The Bamboo has a patent pending and not available to buy as a single at this moment in time.
The Nilgiri Tea company was formed by us to support our friends in their work of The Tea Studio, who are paying smallholder tea plantations 700% more than the local norm. This is down to requiring better tea and rewarding accordingly. This is the beginning of the story. The team has a purpose-built tea factory that processes teas, like the best tea, anywhere on the planet. Tea is after all one plant. The innovation is being discovered worldwide and will become a much bigger concern as the word gets out.
What is incredible about these teas is that they can be re-steeped many times and a little tea goes a long way. Personally, I drink tea as opposed to water particularly at home.
*I may have borrowed that line from Jim Henson, from Sprocket in Fraggle rock At this point, I add that I think American puppets are terrifying. I don’t why, to me they just are. Big Bird? Ahhhh!
