This is amongst Sage’s latest award-winning espresso machine offerings. In terms of value for money and what you can do with it, it is little short of amazing for the money. For between 1/3 and 1/2 the price of a commercial grinder, you have an espresso machine, with a built-in grinder where you can adust so many parameters. It really is as easy as:
- Take it out of the box.
- Soak the filter for 5-10 minutes.
- Wash out your tank.
- Put your filter in.
- Fill the water tank.
- Fresh beans in your hopper.
- Get grinding.
When you do start grinding with the smaller, deeper baskets, Sage encourages you to use loads of coffee. When you weigh the delivery, it often looks like more coffee than it is. A heaped portafilter that would be HUGE on a traditional machine, might be as little as 16g.
On the plus side, these are incredible value for money. They make really decent espresso, very easily and this is why they have their own factory and sending these little machines across the world under Sage and Breville brands.
If I have one tiny gripe, it would be that although these are ab-fab, they are a little hard to keep clean. I have decided that this is probably down to how I operate, not the machine. Having said that, cleaning is easy and quick too!
